Scarborough is hosting the top girls high school volleyball teams in the province, and it will have an entry in the competition, as well, thanks to Birchmount Park Collegiate winning the Toronto District School Board's top quad-A level championship on Wednesday at Seneca College.
Birchmount Park defeated crosstown rival Albert Campbell in straight sets 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-18).
As hosts, the TDSB gets two representatives to the quad-A provincials, but Albert Campbell Collegiate was unable to make it a Scarborough sweep when it lost a subsequent challenge match on Thursday to Leaside High School (25-23, 18-25, 24-26, 25-20, 15-12) which earned the TDSB's second seed.
The OFSAA quad-A championships will run March 3-5 in Scarborough at Centennial College with a few early round games at David and Mary Thomson Collegiate.
OFSAA championships are also contested at three other levels and the TDSB also had championships at these levels.
TRIPLE-A
The Toronto District School Board triple-A girls volleyball title was won by York Mills Collegiate 3-1 (25-8, 15-25,25-23,26-24) over Riverdale Collegiate.
York Mills now advances to the OFSAA triple-A championships March 4 and 5 in Chatham.
DOUBLE/SINGLE-A
The Toronto District School Board combined double/single-A girls volleyball championship was won by Vaughan Road Academy 3-1 over Bloor Collegiate.
JUNIOR
The TDSB's junior girls high school volleyball championship was also held Wednesday at Seneca College with Scarborough's Sir Oliver Mowat defeating Victoria Park Secondary School 2-0 (25-12, 25-10).
