The St. Bernard Catholic School boys volleyball team won the city championship Nov. 25 at Humber College.

They beat St. Michael's Choir School 2-1 (25-22, 27-26 and 15-10).

"I am so extremely proud of these boys," said coach Rick Stella. "Last year was the first time that many of them had ever played volleyball. And to think that they are now the city champions, well, it's an unbelievable feeling."

Stella added the boys deserved the win and it will be a memorable game for them.

"These boys, many from diverse backgrounds and family situations, will never forget this moment," he said. "The look on their faces when the ball dropped to clinch the win was priceless. They went berserk."
