Re: 'Councillor shocked at suggestion to sell park,' Letters, Nov. 21
I am very glad to hear that our councillor is listening to suggestions made to her office by various residents including myself on what should be done in Grattan Park. There are many ideas out there that could be incorporated into any new design for the park while keeping the historical integrity of what was there previously.
I almost bought one of the houses 13 years ago right beside the park and certainly would want an attractive, well-maintained park as well as a proper fence as the current bylaw demands. But, I would be opposed to spending such grossly large amounts on such a small parkette when there are so many other parts of our community that are lacking facilities or need upgrades to current amenities. I hope that our councillor will include any residents of Weston who have expressed concerns whether they live on the street or on adjacent streets. Parks are for everyone in a community - with children and without. There can be something for everyone if we all work together towards the betterment of our community instead of being adversarial with each other.
