JELD-WEN has signed on as a gold sponsor ($30,000) for the 2008 CanWest Steen Classic set for Sept. 4 at the Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville.

The tournament, in its second year, will donate all proceeds raised to the Amadeus Steen Foundation (ASF).

ASF is a charitable group that enhances the lives of children and youth by providing community initiatives and financial support to not-for-profit organizations. LAMP Community Health Centre has been the charity of choice for the ASF since the inception of the tournament.

LAMP Community Health Centre is a non-profit organization that offers community counselling and assistance to at-risk youth in south Etobicoke. The organization supports a wide range of services and programs that help young community members avoid a world of gangs, violence and drugs.

"We can't help but be proud of the work we have done in the past year to improve to lives of youth in Toronto," said Alex Steen, ASF founding member and Toronto Maple Leafs centre. "Seeing results motivate us to do even more for our adopted charity LAMP."

"It's important to support organizations that help build stronger communities," said Brad West, Canadian marketing manager for JELD-WEN Windows and Doors. "LAMP is doing great work, and we're thrilled to be a part of the solution for youth in our community."

JELD-WEN was founded in 1960 in Oregon and opened its Canadian division in 1996 where they currently employ more than 1,200.
