Be proud to be a stamp collector

August 21, 2008 03:28 PM Is there any wonder why young people are not flocking to the hobby of stamp collecting?

One of the main reasons is because there is a stigma that kids who like to collect stamps are nerds.

They are wrong. By collecting stamps, kids learn about history, geography and art.

My suggestion to young stamp collectors is not to hide their hobby. Kids should be proud to belong to the oldest hobby... more

CNE must return to the glory of its past

August 21, 2008 03:28 PM Over the years, the CNE has continued to lose the greatness it once held; it's just become too commercial and I'm not impressed.

When I pay $14 admission, I go to have fun, not to go to the Direct Energy Centre to shop for stereos, TVs, furniture and other things I can get at any mall. There's just too much flea market stuff.

Emergency a reminder to be prepared

This incident shows us that it is a good idea to put together a simple checklist of things to take with us in the event of an emergency.

We can sit at leisure now and prepare for the worst (although always hoping for the best), stick a list on the fridge or somewhere handy and add to it when you think of something new.

Time for province to provide dental coverage for seniors

Gardiner does what it's supposed to do
